Final project ideas:
(Not really sure if we have to base our story ideas off of our sites that we are covering. If that’s the case I’d have to re-think it a little bit. I just assumed we were doing a story that had to be in the style of online stories produced today.)
~ The Men’s Basketball team here at Emerson is perfect for a multimedia, multi layered, web project. There are at least 11 different stories to tell from the players, as well as the Coach’s and now because of the gym, there is a fan angle too. For me, sports are really dynamic. Every game there is a chance for great video of the game, the fans, and after the game for some awesome sound bites. There are also interviews to produce and game summaries, playoff coverage hopefully, and anything else you can think of. It seems like a rich ground to pick an idea from and produce it.
~ I think a story on the Boston Court’s community service system would be interesting as well. Not many people realize how large and extensive the community service is. Not only would it be interesting to compare the way they do it in Dorchester and in Allston, I think interviewing people doing community service would produce great video. There are no murderers in community service, it’s mostly just real people who screwed up, and the stories they have are hilarious.
~ I’ve always wanted to do a story on myself, because I think I’m pretty cool. The logistics of it would be hard to straighten out, but I think it would be a cool idea.
Dear Fairport, I’m not sure a story on yourself would be as newsy as the other two, altho I’m sure hilarity would ensue. I like the idea about the court systems however, since I had quite the run around with them when I had jury duty this summer. Yours truely, Greece, NY
Right, totally agree that a story about you wouldn’t be the best choice. Besides your incredibly good looks and extremelly fine tuned sense of humor there wouldn’t be much to write about.
The basketball team would provide a lot of oppurtunities for multimedia, but do you think you could figure out a good interactive way to present it?
Dude, I like the Emerson basketball story. You could have a page for each player and have soundbites and highlights from games or something.
The story on yourself would probably be really funny. I don’t think anyone has done that. Groundbreaking stuff.
